Background

Born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan, Joshua Herback-South developed a passion for sports and a deep interest in human relationships from an early age. His dedication to these pursuits earned him scholarships to compete as a student-athlete in the United States. While achieving significant athletic milestones during his university years, Joshua also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Colorado State University, Pueblo. Following the conclusion of his academic and athletic career, Mr. Herback-South committed himself to a life of service, dedicating the past 15 years to mentoring, counseling, and coaching across diverse settings, including sports programs, group homes, family residences, and educational institutions.

Throughout his professional journey, Joshua has gained extensive experience working with adults and children facing a wide range of behavioral challenges and diagnoses, including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS), Depression, and Anxiety. By combining his practical, frontline expertise in behavior management, developmental delays, and family dynamics with advanced training in multiple crisis intervention systems and certifications in brain and child development, Joshua has cultivated a unique skill set tailored to supporting individuals and families through life’s most complex challenges.

The Modern Assertive Parenting (MAP) program, developed by Joshua, offers a comprehensive suite of services designed to empower families and professionals. These include educational workshops, online counseling, and in-home counseling for parents, guardians, educators, and families. Through MAP, Joshua aims to provide the tools, strategies, and support necessary to foster positive, lasting change in the lives of those he serves.
